Given that you are coming out of care, it's a safe assumption that you are not exactly rolling in it. Youth allowance helps, but it's not much (we know, we've been there!), especially if you are studying in a big city. And while living on two minute noodles is a bit of a rite of passage, you also don't want to get scurvy.

The good news about money is that you can earn some! Care or no care, heaps of people have a part time job while they study. Besides, part time or casual work can fit in well with study commitments and also give you more skills to offer employers when you graduate. Win-win.
